GET UP AND MOVING
The two day kiteboarding course aims to cover the elements you need to kiteboard independently. Learn the techniques to get up on the board and move in different directions. If time allows, we will practice beach launch and landing, and run through a self-rescue technique. We follow the International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) teaching method and aim to achieve IKO level 1 & 2.

GET UP AND MOVING
The two day kiteboarding course aims to cover the elements you need to kiteboard independently. You should be getting up on the water and using the kite to keep you moving. We will cover all the safety information you need to kiteboard with a buddy. We follow the International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) teaching method and aim to achieve IKO level 1 & 2.
The two day course may be enough for some, especially if you have already have board experience from other sports. But the lesson time goes fast to be able to cover everything – so if you want more time because you are so close to getting up on the board, we may have to decide what action to take. If no other lessons are booked in for the day, we may simply be able to extend the time of the lessson (if you havent had enough fun yet). For this reason, the three day course allows more time to practice and nail the techniques, then to be able to practice further on their own. If you book a two-day course and want more time you can always add-on an extra day.
Day one
We cover all the elements of our one day course, starting with some theory and a safety briefing, and then getting straight into the water. You will learn to control the kite and use it to power yourself downwind through (and sometimes over) the water. Once we have harnessed the power, then we start to use the kite in a controlled way to take us in different directions, and learn some key skills such as body dragging up wind. We do not always use the board on the first day as kite control is 80% of the skill in kiteboarding and there is so much to learn.
Day two
Day two is all practical. We get straight in the water to catch up on any body dragging from the day before, but usually we start with board work at the beginning of day two, and spend most of the day working at getting up on the board, and starting to travel. We also practice launching and landing the kite on the beach and walking safely with it on the land. These are very important skills to have if you are going to come down to the beach on your own, set up and go out safely. We will also fit in a self rescue exercise so that you are able to get yourself safely back to shore if you ever get into difficulties.
Our aim in a two or three day course is to give you the skills and knowledge to continue practicing safely and confidently with a buddy, and on your own in the water, to become a competent kiteboarder.
No wind days for bookings
Kiteboarding is wind dependent. You can plan a day out to a degree. It’s a sport you have to be ready to drop everything for (including work) and charge it when the wind hits and the conditions are right. Trust me, you’ll quickly discover once you’re hooked – there is nothing you’d rather do.
But, if you have booked a lesson and it turns out there’s no wind, you get the option to recap and resume your unused time on another day, or if you prefer can refund any unused lesson time if you can’t manage to come back.
